Medcare Hospital Sharjah has successfully performed the UAE’s first advanced Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA) for pulmonary hypertension on a 44-year-old woman who had spent more than a decade struggling with severe breathlessness caused by a rare and potentially life-threatening lung condition. The breakthrough intervention was led by Dr. A.B. Gopalamurugan, Structural Interventional Cardiologist at Medcare Hospital Sharjah, marking a major step forward in the treatment of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH), a rare but potentially fatal condition that, until now, required patients in Dubai to seek care abroad.

For 11 years, the patient endured increasingly severe breathlessness due to chronic blood clots obstructing the arteries in her lungs, which put her heart under significant strain. Even after having a major open-heart surgery following her initial diagnosis and subsequently traveling to the UK for the highly regarded pulmonary thromboendarterectomy surgery, she still faced residual blockages that hindered her ability to carry out everyday tasks.

Reflecting on her experience, the patient, Mrs. Sara Al Matari, said, “I struggled while walking with my children, carrying out routine activities at home, and even performing my duties at work. I would become breathless with the smallest physical effort and often felt dependent on others to complete everyday tasks. After undergoing major surgery in the UK in 2017, there was some improvement, but I still needed further treatment to address the remaining blockages in my lungs. Until recently, that treatment was not available in the UAE.”

Commenting on the launch of the new procedure, Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group Chief Executive Officer of Medcare Hospitals and Medical Centres said, “At Medcare, our commitment is to bring advanced, patient centric care closer to home. The successful introduction of Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty at Medcare Hospital Sharjah represents an important milestone forward in expanding treatment options for patients living with complex pulmonary hypertension. This minimally invasive approach not only reduces the need for high-risk surgeries but also significantly improves the quality of life for patients who previously had limited options within the UAE. We are proud of our clinical team for delivering this highly specialized procedure and reinforcing our focus on innovation, safety, and accessible excellence in healthcare across the region”.

Speaking about the case, Dr. Gopalamurugan said, “Balloon pulmonary angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure performed using a catheter and a tiny balloon through a small access point in the leg. It allows us to carefully open narrowed or blocked pulmonary arteries that would otherwise be difficult to reach to improve blood flow through the lungs. The procedure requires specialised expertise, advanced imaging, and a multidisciplinary team, which is why it has historically only been available at a limited number of locations worldwide”.

“Despite multiple major interventions over several years, the patient continued to experience severe symptoms because of persistent narrowing in the smaller blood vessels of her lungs. Given her medical history and previous surgeries, another major procedure would have carried a significant risk. This is why we determined that BPA is the most appropriate treatment option”, he added.

The procedure was completed successfully without complications. Doctors were able to confirm an immediate reduction in lung pressures during the intervention itself, indicating a positive response to treatment. Besides the patient being awake throughout her whole procedure, she was able to walk within 24 hours and was discharged shortly afterwards.

The success of this case was further supported by the dedicated efforts of Dr. Hani Sabbour, Referring Consultant, who had been managing the patient’s condition for nearly a decade. Having closely followed her complex medical journey, Dr. Sabbour played a pivotal role in recognising the need for advanced intervention and guiding her towards the most appropriate treatment pathway. Working in close collaboration with Dr. Yogeeswari Vellore Satyanarayanan, Specialist Cardiology & Pulmonary Hypertension Unit Lead at Medcare Hospital Sharjah, the team ensured a comprehensive and well-coordinated approach to her care. Their combined expertise and continuity of care were instrumental in facilitating timely decision making and ultimately contributed to the successful outcome of this first-of-its-kind procedure in the UAE.

Speaking on her recovery, the patient said, “I am grateful to the entire medical team at Medcare, led by Dr. Gopalamurugan, for the wonderful care. Everything went smoothly, and I felt supported throughout the process. While it will take a few more months to fully assess the long-term improvement, I can already feel a difference. Breathing has become easier, and I feel more optimistic about the future.”

According to Dr. Jishan Madathil, Chief Operating Officer at Medcare Hospitals Sharjah Cluster, “The significance of the case extends beyond a single patient outcome. Until now, patients often had to travel abroad to specialised centres in countries such as the UK or the U.S.A. to access this treatment. Having this specialized treatment option available here in UAE means patients can receive advanced care closer to home, and it strengthens our ability to diagnose and manage complex pulmonary hypertension cases within the region.”

He further emphasised the importance of early diagnosis, noting that pulmonary hypertension is frequently misdiagnosed because its symptoms are often attributed to more common conditions. “Patients who continue to experience unexplained breathlessness, particularly after a history of blood clots in the lungs, should seek specialist evaluation. CTEPH is the only potentially curable form of pulmonary hypertension. Early diagnosis and timely referral can dramatically improve outcomes.”

While the patient will continue to be monitored as part of her recovery, the procedure has already resulted in meaningful improvements in her breathing, mobility, and overall quality of life, offering renewed hope after more than a decade of living with a debilitating condition.

Hot and humid weather can be particularly challenging for the human body. Unlike dry heat, humidity slows down the evaporation of sweat, making it harder for your body to cool itself efficiently. As a result, you may sweat more, lose essential fluids and electrolytes faster, and become dehydrated without realizing it. Whether you’re living in a humid climate like UAE, working outdoors, exercising, or traveling, staying hydrated is essential for maintaining your health, energy, and overall well-being.

Drink Water Regularly

The most effective way to stay hydrated is to drink water consistently throughout the day rather than waiting until you feel thirsty. Thirst is often a late indicator of dehydration. Aim to sip water every 20–30 minutes during outdoor activities or prolonged exposure to humid weather. Keep a reusable water bottle with you to make hydration convenient wherever you go.

Replace Lost Electrolytes

Sweating doesn’t just cause water loss—it also depletes important minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. During extended periods of physical activity or excessive sweating, replenish these electrolytes by drinking oral rehydration solutions, electrolyte beverages, or consuming natural sources like coconut water, bananas, oranges, and yogurt. Maintaining electrolyte balance helps prevent muscle cramps, fatigue, and dizziness.

Eat Water-Rich Foods

Hydration comes from both beverages and food. Fruits and vegetables with high water content provide fluids along with essential vitamins and minerals. Excellent choices include watermelon, cucumber, strawberries, oranges, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, and grapes. Including these foods in your daily meals can significantly improve your hydration levels.

Limit Dehydrating Drinks

Certain beverages can contribute to fluid loss if consumed in excess. Drinks high in caffeine, alcohol, or sugar may increase dehydration, particularly during hot and humid weather. While moderate coffee or tea consumption is generally acceptable, balance each caffeinated or alcoholic beverage with additional water to compensate for fluid loss.

Dress for the Weather

Lightweight, loose-fitting, and breathable clothing made from cotton or moisture-wicking fabrics helps your body regulate temperature more effectively. Light-colored clothing reflects sunlight and reduces heat absorption, minimizing excessive sweating and fluid loss.

Avoid Peak Heat Hours

Whenever possible, schedule outdoor activities during the early morning or late evening when temperatures and humidity levels are lower. If you must be outside during the hottest part of the day, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas to allow your body to cool down.

Monitor Your Hydration

Your urine color is one of the simplest indicators of hydration. Pale yellow urine generally indicates good hydration, while dark yellow or amber-colored urine often signals that you need more fluids. Other signs of dehydration include dry mouth, headache, dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps, and reduced urine output. Address these symptoms immediately by drinking fluids and resting in a cool environment.

Increase Fluid Intake During Exercise

Physical activity significantly increases sweat production in humid conditions. Drink water before, during, and after exercise. For workouts lasting longer than an hour, consider electrolyte replacement beverages to restore both fluids and minerals lost through sweat.

Don’t Wait Until You’re Thirsty

Many people underestimate how quickly dehydration develops in humid weather because sweat evaporates less efficiently. Develop a habit of drinking small amounts of water consistently throughout the day, especially if you spend time outdoors or work in physically demanding environments.

Pay Special Attention to Vulnerable Groups

Children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with chronic medical conditions are more susceptible to dehydration. Ensure they have easy access to water, encourage frequent fluid intake, and monitor them closely during periods of high heat and humidity.

Staying hydrated in humid conditions requires more than simply drinking water when you’re thirsty. A combination of regular fluid intake, electrolyte replacement, water-rich foods, appropriate clothing, and smart scheduling of outdoor activities can help your body cope with the challenges of heat and humidity. By making hydration a daily habit and recognizing the early signs of dehydration, you can stay healthy, active, and comfortable even in the most humid environments.

The IVF success rate is one thing that people who are trying to have a baby often ask about. Lots of people around the world have had babies thanks to IVF. The thing is, it does not work the same for everyone.

Understanding what affects the success of IVF can help people make choices and have realistic ideas about what will happen.

Understanding IVF Success Rates

IVF success rates give people an idea of how likely they’re to get pregnant and have a baby.

It is important to know that success rates are affected by several factors, including age, medical history, reproductive health, and lifestyle habits. Rather than depending solely on percentages, patients should consider their individual circumstances and fertility profile.

Age and Reproductive Health

A key factor that affects the success of IVF is a woman’s age. Female fertility naturally declines over time, particularly after the age of 35, due to a gradual reduction in both the number and quality of eggs.

Women who are under 35 usually have a higher chance of successful fertilization, embryo development, and implantation. Advances in reproductive medicine have broadened the options available to people of all ages. People seeking IVF treatment in Dubai are often advised to seek medical advice early, as early assessment and care may help improve treatment outcomes.

Egg and Sperm Quality

The quality of eggs and sperm is really important when it comes to IVF treatment. If the eggs and sperm are healthy, they are more likely to make a baby.

Factors that may affect egg and sperm quality include:

Age

Smoking and alcohol consumption

Obesity

Certain medical conditions

Environmental and work exposures

Genetic factors

Comprehensive fertility evaluations help specialists understand possible concerns early and choose the most suitable treatment plan for each patient.

Embryo Quality

Not all embryos develop in the same way or have the same potential. During IVF treatment, embryologists carefully observe embryo development in the lab and assess their quality using well-established scientific criteria.

The healthier an embryo is, the better its chances of implanting and developing into a pregnancy. With the help of advanced lab techniques and careful quality checks, embryo development can be well supported. That’s why many couples prefer established IVF clinics in UAE that offer quality fertility services.

Fertility Diagnosis and Medical Conditions

The underlying cause of infertility can also influence treatment outcomes. There are lots of things that may affect IVF success, including:

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Endometriosis

Uterine abnormalities

Diminished ovarian reserve

Male factor infertility

Tubal factor infertility

Early diagnosis and personalized treatment planning can help address these challenges and improve the chance of success.

The Importance of Laboratory Standards

The IVF laboratory plays a main role in every fertility treatment cycle. Factors such as the quality of equipment, strict lab protocols, and the experience of embryologists all contribute to how well embryos develop and the overall success of treatment outcomes.

Patients researching fertility treatments should consider the importance of laboratory quality and adherence to internationally recognized standards. Centers that maintain robust quality management systems are better equipped to support consistent and reliable fertility care.

Lifestyle Factors That Matter

Healthy lifestyle choices can support reproductive health before and during fertility treatment. Patients are often advised to:

Maintain a healthy weight

Follow a balanced diet

Exercise regularly

Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption

Manage stress levels

Get enough sleep

While lifestyle changes cannot guarantee success, they can help create a healthier environment for conception and pregnancy.

Personalized Treatment Approaches

Every fertility journey is unique. Advances in reproductive medicine allow fertility specialists to tailor treatment plans based on individual needs, medical history, and diagnostic findings.

Personalized protocols may include adjustments to ovarian stimulation, embryo transfer timing, fertility preservation strategies, or specialized laboratory techniques designed to optimize outcomes. Patients undergoing fertility treatment should discuss individualized approaches with their specialists to determine the most suitable course of care.

Choosing a Fertility Center in the UAE

When evaluating fertility care options, patients should look beyond advertised success rates. Important considerations include:

Experience of fertility specialists

Laboratory quality and accreditation standards

Availability of advanced reproductive technologies

Patient-centered care and ongoing support services

Clear and transparent communication about treatment expectations

A clinic like Best Life Fertility Center, with its focus on quality care, clinical expertise, and a more personal approach, helps patients feel supported and well-informed throughout their fertility journey.

Looking Beyond the Numbers

IVF success rates provide useful information, but they do not tell the entire story. Every patient has different medical conditions that influence treatment outcomes. Advances in fertility treatment, laboratory technology, and personalized care continue to improve opportunities for individuals and couples seeking to build their families.

Consulting with experienced fertility specialists can help patients better understand their reproductive health and choose the most appropriate path forward based on their individual needs and goals.

Pain is one of the most common reasons people seek professional help, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood. Whether you are dealing with chronic pain that has persisted for months or acute pain following an injury, the approach to treatment matters enormously.

In Dubai’s fast-paced, high-performance environment, many people either push through discomfort or turn to quick-fix solutions that address the symptom but not the source. The reality is that pain management works differently for each person, and a standardized protocol rarely delivers lasting results.

Two clients can present with what appears to be the same complaint, lower back pain for example, and yet require entirely different treatment pathways. One may have a soft tissue injury rooted in poor posture habits. The other may be experiencing joint dysfunction amplified by systemic inflammation. Apply the same protocol to both and you will help one while leaving the other frustrated and no better off.

Why Pain Treatments Work Differently for Each Person

Pain perception is not uniform. It is shaped by your nervous system, your movement history, your lifestyle, your stress levels, and even your sleep quality. Two individuals with near-identical MRI scans can report vastly different pain experiences. This is because pain is not simply a structural issue; it is a complex signal generated by the brain in response to a range of physical and physiological inputs.

Factors that influence how your body processes and expresses pain include the degree of inflammation present in the tissues, the extent of muscle tension and compensatory patterns that have developed over time, the health and responsiveness of your nervous system, your history of previous injuries, and your overall physical conditioning.

This is precisely why a generic treatment plan, the same stretches, the same modalities, the same frequency for every patient, consistently falls short. It does not account for the individual standing in front of the practitioner.

What Is a Personalized Approach to Pain Relief?

A personalized approach begins with a thorough pain assessment and treatment evaluation before a single intervention is applied. Skilled practitioners take time to understand the full picture: where the pain originates, how it behaves across the day, what aggravates or relieves it, and what the client’s functional goals are.

The focus is not simply on treating a region of the body but on treating a person with a unique history and a specific outcome in mind.

This assessment informs a tailored plan that may integrate several disciplines working in coordination. Rather than defaulting to a single modality, integrated pain management draws on the most effective combination of evidence-based therapies for that individual’s condition and goals.

Chronic Pain Management Strategies That Actually Work

Managing chronic pain is fundamentally different from treating an acute injury. Chronic pain treatment requires a longer view. The nervous system has often adapted to a state of heightened sensitivity, and the body may have developed compensatory movement patterns that perpetuate the problem. Effective chronic pain management strategies must address these layers simultaneously.

A client managing long-term musculoskeletal pain might be supported through a combination of manual therapy to release restricted tissue, physiotherapy to restore optimal movement mechanics, and corrective exercises to build strength and stability in the areas that matter most.

Where appropriate, therapeutic massage is used not as a relaxation luxury but as a clinical tool to reduce muscle tension, support circulation, and calm an overactive nervous system.

Exercise therapy is another cornerstone of effective chronic pain treatment. Movement is medicine, but only when it is the right movement for the right person at the right stage of recovery. Poorly prescribed exercise can reinforce dysfunction.

Properly structured stretching and corrective exercise, on the other hand, can restore function, reduce pain, and prevent recurrence.

Personalized Treatment Plans for Neck and Back Pain

Neck and back pain are among the most frequent complaints encountered in Dubai, unsurprisingly given the prevalence of desk-bound work, long commutes, and high-stress corporate lifestyles. Yet even within this category, the causes and presentations vary widely.

For one client, the root cause may be joint dysfunction in the cervical spine exacerbated by sustained forward head posture. For another, it could be a combination of tight hip flexors and weak deep spinal stabilizers creating compressive load on the lumbar discs. A one-size-fits-all treatment for back pain does not distinguish between these presentations and therefore cannot reliably resolve them.

Personalized treatment plans for neck and back pain begin with postural and movement assessment, identify the true contributing factors, and then apply the most targeted interventions available, whether that is manual therapy, soft tissue work, physiotherapy, or a structured home exercise programme.

Holistic Pain Management: Treating the Whole Person

Holistic pain management recognizes that the body does not function in isolated parts. Physical discomfort can be worsened by poor sleep, elevated cortisol, nutritional deficiencies, or emotional stress. Equally, unresolved physical pain can significantly affect mental well-being, productivity, and quality of life.

An integrated approach to long-term pain relief extends beyond the treatment table. Connecting musculoskeletal therapy with functional wellness support, lifestyle coaching, and where necessary, specialist referrals, allows practitioners to look at the full picture because that is where lasting outcomes are created.

Non-Surgical Pain Relief: Effective Options Available in Dubai

Many people in the UAE are surprised to discover how much can be achieved through non-surgical pain relief when the right combination of therapies is applied consistently.

Surgery carries risk, recovery time, and does not always address the underlying cause of pain. The majority of musculoskeletal conditions, including disc-related issues, joint pain, and chronic soft tissue injuries, respond well to a structured conservative treatment plan.

Physical therapy for pain is often the most underutilized yet most impactful tool available. When delivered by skilled practitioners who understand biomechanics and pain science, physiotherapy and manual therapy together can produce remarkable improvements in function and significant reductions in pain, without surgical intervention.

Why One-Size-Fits-All Pain Treatments Fail

Standardized pain protocols fail for a straightforward reason: they are designed around an average, and no patient is average. They overlook individual anatomy, history, and contributing factors. They apply the same dose of the same treatment regardless of whether it is working. And they typically focus on symptom suppression rather than root cause resolution.

The result is temporary relief at best, and at worst, a reinforcement of the patterns that caused the pain in the first place. Clients who cycle through generic treatments without lasting improvement are not failing; the treatment is failing them.

Take the First Step Toward Lasting Relief

If you have been managing pain with solutions that provide short-term relief but never quite resolve the issue, it may be time to explore a more personalized path.

Our practitioners at Wellnest specialize in understanding your specific condition and building a treatment plan around your body, your goals, and your life in Dubai. Book a comprehensive pain assessment and take the first step toward genuinely effective, long-term pain relief.

Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital, part of Emirates Health Services (EHS), has achieved a medical milestone, successfully completing a series of advanced paediatric robotic surgeries – the first of their kind in the UAE.

This achievement reinforces EHS’s role as a pioneer in adopting advanced medical technologies and delivering specialised healthcare in line with the highest international standards.

Dr. Safiya Alkhajeh, Director of the hospital, said: “This accomplishment marks a defining moment in our journey to advance our specialised services at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital. It reflects Emirates Health Services’ commitment to innovation, clinical excellence, and world-class patient-centred care.”

“Deploying the latest global robotic surgery technologies has enabled the medical team to carry out complex surgical procedures with exceptional precision, flexibility, and control,” Dr. Alkhajeh added. “This places the hospital’s Paediatric Surgery Department among a select group of leading international medical centres offering robotic surgery specifically designed for children.”

For his part, Dr. Khalid Khalfan, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and Assistant Director for Medical Affairs at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital, stressed that by integrating robotic surgery into its paediatric surgical services, the hospital demonstrates its dedication to providing the most advanced medical innovations to its patients. This milestone is more than a technical advancement, he noted; it is a direct investment in safer, less invasive treatment options.

The surgeries were performed by Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including anaesthesiologists, specialist paediatric surgical nurses, and support service teams from across the hospital. This collaborative model offers a prime example of medical and technological integration, directed towards ensuring optimal treatment outcomes.

Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Mohamed Hassan affirmed that robotic surgery marks a significant advancement in paediatric surgery. “This technology,” he explained,“allows us to perform procedures with extraordinary precision within the small and complex anatomical spaces of children, using three-dimensional visualisation systems and ultra-fine surgical instruments that simulate human hand movements.”

“This approach marks a significant evolution from the traditional, minimally invasive techniques that have distinguished the hospital’s Paediatric Surgery Department for many years,” Dr. Hassan continued. “It offers additional advantages that allow for performing complex surgeries with greater accuracy and professionalism, which, consequently, results in faster recovery times and improved clinical outcomes for children.”

The inaugural series of operations included a range of complex paediatric gastrointestinal and urological surgeries. All procedures were successful, reporting excellent clinical results and smooth post-operative recovery for the patients.

This milestone comes at a time when robotic surgery is rapidly advancing across the globe, with growing adoption rates in reconstructive and minimally invasive procedures requiring high levels of skill and precision. With this pioneering series of operations, Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital has solidified its position as a leading centre for paediatric robotic surgery, and continues to strengthen its role in medical education, scientific research, and innovation in the field of children’s health.

Starting a family is a beautiful goal, but for some couples, the journey can take time and support. Treatments like IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) offer hope to those facing fertility challenges. If you are planning your treatment in Dubai, selecting the right clinic is one of the most important decisions you will make. With many options available, it’s essential to know what truly matters before you begin.

This guide will help you understand how to find the right IVF clinic in Dubai and what to consider when choosing a fertility doctor.

Understanding Clinic Success Rates

One of the first things to consider is the clinic’s success rate. This shows how often treatments result in a healthy pregnancy and birth. Most clinics share this information on their website or during consultation. However, success rates depend on many factors such as age, medical history, and fertility conditions. Therefore, instead of focusing only on high numbers, ask what the success rate looks like for someone with your specific situation.

When you visit a clinic, make sure to ask detailed questions about success rates for patients with similar conditions. This will give you a clearer and more realistic understanding.

Choosing an Experienced Fertility Specialist

The doctor’s expertise plays a major role in your fertility journey. An experienced specialist understands different types of infertility issues and knows how to manage them effectively. When choosing a clinic, look for a doctor with a strong track record and years of experience.

At Best Life Fertility Center, for instance, patients benefit from a specialist who listens carefully, understands concerns, and provides honest guidance. This kind of experience helps make the process smoother and less stressful.

Treatment Options You Should Know

Not all clinics offer the same treatments. Some focus only on IVF, while others provide a wider range of services such as IUI, egg freezing, donor programs, and genetic testing. Choosing a clinic with multiple options is beneficial because it allows the doctor to select the most suitable treatment for your condition.

A reliable IVF Clinic in UAE like Best Life Fertility Center will first conduct proper tests to identify the cause of infertility. Then, they will recommend the best treatment instead of immediately suggesting IVF. This approach ensures better results.

Importance of Modern IVF Technology

Modern technology plays an important role in fertility treatments. Clinics with advanced labs and updated equipment often achieve better results. High-quality laboratories help maintain the health of eggs, sperm, and embryos throughout the process.

Best Life Fertility Center uses modern technology and maintains clean, well-equipped labs to ensure patients receive the best possible care. Choosing a clinic with advanced facilities can significantly improve your chances of success.

Understanding the Cost Structure

Fertility treatment can be expensive, so it’s important to understand all costs before starting. A reliable clinic will clearly explain consultation fees, medication costs, and procedure charges. This helps you plan your budget without stress.

When selecting an IVF Clinic in Dubai, always ask for a complete cost breakdown. Avoid clinics that are unclear about pricing, as hidden costs can create problems later. Transparency is a sign of trust.

Why Personalised Care Matters

Every couple’s fertility journey is different. Therefore, personalised care is essential. A good clinic will not follow a standard plan for everyone. Instead, they will create a treatment strategy based on your specific needs and medical history.

At our clinic, each patient receives individual attention and enough time to discuss their concerns. This approach not only improves outcomes but also reduces emotional stress.

Clinic Environment and Patient Support

Fertility treatments can feel overwhelming at times. That’s why a supportive team and a comfortable environment are so important. Friendly staff who answer your questions and guide you properly can make a big difference.

Before choosing an IVF Clinic in Dubai, visit the facility to see how it feels. Notice the cleanliness, the behavior of the staff, and how comfortable you feel overall. A calm and welcoming environment helps you stay positive throughout the journey.

Accessibility and Appointment Flexibility

Since fertility treatments often require multiple visits, choosing a conveniently located clinic is important. A clinic that is easy to reach will save time and reduce travel stress.

In addition, flexible appointment timings are helpful, especially for working couples. Best Life Fertility Center is centrally located in Dubai and offers scheduling options that fit different lifestyles, making it easier for patients to attend appointments regularly.

Checking Reviews and Patient Experiences

Patient reviews can give you a clear idea of what to expect from a clinic. Reading online reviews, checking social media, or speaking with past patients can provide valuable insights.

When researching an IVF Clinic in Dubai, look for feedback about the doctor’s approach, success stories, and overall experience. Honest opinions from others can help you make a more confident decision.

Making a Confident Final Decision

While research and reviews are important, your personal comfort matters the most. If something doesn’t feel right during your visit, it’s okay to explore other options.

You should feel heard, respected, and supported by your doctor and the clinic. Choosing the right IVF Clinic in Dubai means trusting both the process and the people guiding you through it.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right IVF Clinic in Dubai is a crucial step in your journey toward parenthood. By focusing on success rates, doctor experience, technology, and patient care, you can make a well-informed decision.

Taking the time to evaluate these factors will help you find a clinic that truly meets your needs. If you are looking for a clinic that combines expertise, advanced technology, and personalised care, Best Life Fertility Center stands out as a trusted option. With a patient-focused approach and years of experience, the clinic continues to support couples in Dubai as they move closer to achieving their dream of starting a family.

As World Health Day is marked on 7 April, The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) presents a working model of humanitarian action that places access to healthcare at the centre of relief efforts. The urgency is clear. According to the World Health Organization and the World Bank, more than 4.5 billion people are underserved by essential health services, while nearly two billion face severe financial hardship due to out-of-pocket healthcare costs.

Given these challenges, practical and scalable interventions are urgently needed. With projections indicating a global shortfall of 10 million health workers by 2030, TBHF has adopted an approach that combines rapid response with long-term health system support. Its programmes focus on broadening service reach, strengthening infrastructure, building local capacity, and forming partnerships aligned with national health priorities in beneficiary countries. The emphasis is on sustainable impact for the most vulnerable communities.

In fragile settings where crises strain limited healthcare systems, TBHF implements interventions that connect emergency relief with long-term sustainability.

Lebanon’s capital saw the reconstruction and expansion of the emergency unit at Saint George Hospital University Medical Center, delivered through the ‘Salam Beirut’ campaign for AED 8.7 million. The restored facility now provides essential care to more than 40,000 patients annually, including dedicated paediatric services.

Across Jordan, the Big Heart Clinic in the Zaatari refugee camp delivers primary healthcare, nutrition services, mental health support, health education, and child growth monitoring to around 24,000 Syrian refugees. In Gaza, TBHF has contributed to COVID-19 response efforts, including installing an oxygen generator and a solar energy system at a healthcare facility. The foundation continues to support Palestinian child amputees through the ‘For Gaza’ campaign, amid sustained demand for prosthetics and specialised rehabilitation services.

Meanwhile, in Bangladesh, the foundation has closely monitored the conditions of Rohingya refugees on the ground to mobilise greater healthcare provision for the most vulnerable groups. It helped deliver a 100-bed hospital in the Cox’s Bazar district, in partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), to serve approximately 140,000 refugees, a significant proportion of whom are children under the age of five.

The facility provides access to quality healthcare services, including 24-hour emergency care, intensive care units, pediatric and maternity wards, as well as laboratories and isolation units. It also contributes to monitoring communicable diseases, strengthening response capacities to epidemics and natural disasters, and supporting nutrition programmes and primary healthcare services, ultimately increasing the availability of sustainable, comprehensive healthcare within refugee camps.

Innovative solutions to bring care closer to communities

Distance remains a critical barrier across many underserved regions. In partnership with the Aster Volunteers programme, The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) has developed a mobile medical clinic model designed to reach remote populations directly.

Since 2019, this initiative has been implemented across eight countries – Ethiopia, Sudan, Iraq, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Nepal – benefiting 178,740 people through 1,937 medical camps.

Among these efforts is a solar-powered mobile clinic in Zanzibar, providing diagnostic services, primary care, health awareness, and teleconsultation to approximately 20,000 patients annually. Established as part of a long-term operational commitment of at least ten years, the initiative aims to reach a quarter of a million who lack reliable access to essential healthcare services.

Strengthening systems and building capacity

TBHF’s approach is guided by the principle that capacity building creates more lasting impact than short-term aid alone.

The foundation supported the establishment and equipping of the Big Heart Health Center in partnership with Save the Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The project included full facility outfitting, the provision of essential medicines, and training for healthcare workers in the use and maintenance of equipment.

Capacity-building efforts also reached 60 health centres in four regions, improving service continuity and the quality of maternal and child healthcare. This is expected to benefit about 4,000 children and 2,600 pregnant women annually.

Aligning with national strategies through partnerships

A key feature of TBHF’s model is alignment with national health strategies and collaboration with specialised medical institutions to ensure coordinated, long-term impact.

TBHF also contributed AED 33 million towards the development of the National Cancer Institute’s main facility in Cairo, alongside support for the rehabilitation of an MRI unit at Ahl Masr Hospital for burns and trauma care.

Internationally, the foundation has funded a virtual Cardio-Oncology Centre of Excellence at Royal Brompton Hospital in London, an initiative designed to advance medical knowledge and research dissemination, with a projected global reach of ten million beneficiaries.

A sustainable humanitarian model

On World Health Day, TBHF’s work highlights that inclusive healthcare systems require more than commitment alone. It depends on systems, partnerships, and sustained investment. By delivering services where they are most needed, strengthening key institutions, and expanding health system capacity, the foundation advances a model focused on practical delivery and measurable impact.

In a world with uneven access to healthcare, these approaches are essential.

Why Night Glare, Halos, and “Dirty Vision” Are Often Misdiagnosed in the UAE – and What Advanced Corneal Optics Can Actually Do

For many people in the UAE, the story begins the same way: the prescription looks fine, the eyes are “healthy,” and yet something still feels wrong. Vision is technically there – but not clean. Night driving becomes stressful. Streetlights seem to explode. Headlights stretch into starbursts. Halos appear around light sources. Some people describe it as blur, but many say something more specific: “It feels dirty.”

This kind of complaint is often brushed off too quickly. Patients are told it is just dry eye, screen strain, fatigue, or a minor post-LASIK effect that they should learn to live with. Sometimes that is true. But not always.

In a meaningful number of cases, the problem is not simply about “the number” in glasses or the surface feeling of dryness. It is about optical quality – how light actually travels through the eye, how the cornea shapes that light, and whether the final image reaching the brain is sharp, stable, and usable in real life.

That distinction matters, because if the problem is being misclassified, the solution will also miss the mark.

When “I can see” is not the same as “I can see well”

One of the biggest misunderstandings in eye care is the assumption that good chart vision equals good functional vision. A person may read the line well in a bright room and still struggle significantly in daily life.

This is especially common in patients who report:

halos around lights

strong glare, especially at night

starbursts from headlights

smeared or washed-out contrast

ghosting or shadowing around text

unstable clarity that comes and goes

worsening symptoms in dim light, despite a “correct” prescription

These are not cosmetic complaints. They affect independence, confidence, and quality of life. They influence whether a person feels safe driving, comfortable working at night, or able to trust their own eyes.

Why symptoms often become worse after dark

Night is where these complaints become harder to ignore.

In dim light, the pupil naturally becomes larger to let in more light. That sounds helpful – but when the optical system of the eye is not perfectly smooth or stable, a larger pupil also means more distorted peripheral light enters the system. The result is that symptoms that may be mild during the day become much more obvious at night.

This is why patients often say:

“It’s manageable in daylight, but impossible after sunset.”

“I can work during the day, but driving at night feels dangerous.”

“The problem shows up only when lights are bright and everything around me is dark.”

The darkness is not creating the problem. It is revealing it.

Not every halo is dry eye – and not every halo means the same thing

Another reason these patients are frequently misdiagnosed is that several conditions can create overlapping symptoms.

Dry eye can absolutely cause fluctuating blur, irritation, and light scatter. A poor tear film can make vision feel unstable and can mimic something more complex. But when the complaint is persistent, strongly related to night vision, and not fully relieved by blinking, lubrication, or routine correction, the next question should not be “Do you need new glasses?” It should be: What is actually degrading the image?

In many complex cases, the answer may involve:

corneal irregularity

post-surgical optical changes

subtle scarring

early or mild ectatic change

or higher-order aberrations (HOA)

HOA are optical distortions beyond ordinary nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. They can create a real mismatch between what the patient feels and what a routine refraction suggests.

That is exactly why some people keep replacing glasses while saying the same sentence over and over:
“The prescription is stronger, but the picture is still not clean.”

Why this is especially relevant in the UAE

The UAE creates a perfect environment for these symptoms to be underestimated.

People here often live with a combination of:

heavy digital screen exposure

aggressive air-conditioning

dry environments

long driving hours

bright artificial lighting

and a relatively high awareness of refractive surgery as a lifestyle solution

Because dryness is common, it becomes the default explanation for almost everything. Because LASIK is common, mild optical symptoms may be framed as “normal.” Because patients are busy, they often delay deeper workups until the problem starts affecting function.

But in reality, the UAE patient who says “night vision feels wrong” may be describing a more advanced optical problem than a standard dry eye conversation can explain.

The real clinical question: is this a surface problem, a structural problem, or an optical quality problem?

This is where a more intelligent workup makes all the difference.

Instead of asking only, “What is the prescription?” the more useful questions are:

Is the tear film unstable enough to explain the complaint?

Is the cornea smooth and regular?

Is the patient dealing with post-surgical distortion?

Is there a mismatch between acuity and visual quality?

Are higher-order aberrations likely contributing?

For some patients, dryness is indeed the primary driver. For others, dryness is only making a deeper optical problem more noticeable. And in a third group, the surface may be reasonable, but the real issue is corneal shape and light distortion.

Treating all three groups the same way is where misdiagnosis begins.

Why glasses often fail in these patients

Glasses are excellent at correcting standard refractive error. They work very well when the eye’s optical system is fundamentally regular. But they are limited when the source of the complaint is more complex.

If the cornea is optically irregular, if light is scattering abnormally, or if HOA are strong enough to affect real-world function, then even a technically correct prescription may leave the person disappointed.

That is why some patients say:

“The number is right, but I still hate my vision.”

“I can pass the test, but I can’t drive comfortably.”

“I’m seeing, but I’m not seeing clearly.”

This is not a contradiction. It is a signal.

Where advanced scleral optics become relevant

Once the complaint is correctly understood as an optical quality issue, the treatment conversation changes.

Instead of trying to force clarity out of glasses or conventional lenses, the focus shifts to building a more stable, smoother optical surface. That is where advanced scleral lens approaches can become highly relevant.

Scleral lenses vault over the cornea and rest on the sclera, creating a fluid-filled space between the lens and the corneal surface. In complex optical cases, this can do something extremely important: it can create a new front optical surface that is more stable, more regular, and often far more functional than what the patient has been experiencing.

Patients frequently report improvements in:

clarity and contrast

night driving tolerance

reduction in light scatter

less visual “messiness”

more stable vision across the day

Of course, not every patient is the same. Not every scleral lens design is the same either. A standard fit may help some people, but highly complex eyes often require far more customization than most patients realize.

Why some eyes need more than a standard scleral fitting

This is one of the most important points in the entire discussion.

A patient may be told they “tried scleral lenses already,” but that still doesn’t tell you enough. Did they try a conventional fit? Was the lens stable enough? Was the optical distortion measured? Was the scleral shape highly asymmetric? Was the complaint actually HOA-related?

In more advanced cases, the next step is not simply “another lens.” It is a higher level of diagnostic and fitting strategy.

That may include:

advanced corneal and scleral imaging

wavefront-based optical assessment

highly personalized lens design

or, in selected complex cases, impression-based customization

That is one reason some patients in the region look beyond routine eye care settings and seek centers that specialize specifically in corneal optics and functional visual rehabilitation.

A center such as M’Eye Clinic in Jerusalem Israel is relevant in this context because it focuses on complex cases of visual distortion and advanced scleral rehabilitation. For readers who want to understand how these solutions work in more depth, M’Eye Clinic has published detailed material on dynamic wavefrontHOA scleral lenses and on corneal scars and HOA correction, both of which expand on how optical distortions can persist even when standard correction appears “correct.”

What patients should do if this sounds familiar

If you experience any of the following, it may be time to ask for a more cornea-focused evaluation:

persistent halos around lights

severe glare at night

starbursts that interfere with driving

“dirty” or unstable vision despite updated glasses

good acuity but poor real-world comfort

history of LASIK, PRK, corneal irregularity, or unexplained visual dissatisfaction

That does not automatically mean HOA. It does mean that the complaint deserves more than a routine refraction.

The right next step is not panic. It is precision.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Are halos and glare after LASIK always a serious problem?

Not always. Some visual symptoms may be mild or manageable. But when they persist, worsen, or interfere with real life, they deserve a more complete workup.

Can dry eye alone create this kind of visual disturbance?

Yes, dry eye can absolutely worsen light scatter and unstable clarity. But if symptoms remain strongly optical and persist despite surface treatment, corneal optics should be evaluated as well.

If glasses don’t help, does that mean I need surgery?

No. In many cases, the next step is not surgery but better diagnosis and a more advanced optical rehabilitation strategy.

Are scleral lenses only for keratoconus?

No. They may also be highly useful in post-surgical irregularity, corneal scarring, ocular surface disease, and other situations where standard lenses do not provide reliable visual quality.

Final thought

For many patients in the UAE, the real frustration is not poor vision in the simple sense. It is vision that feels unreliable. Vision that works on paper but fails in life. Vision that becomes stressful when the lights come on and the sun goes down.

When that happens, the most important thing is not to settle for an incomplete explanation. Night glare, halos, starbursts, and “dirty vision” are often telling a more specific optical story – and once that story is understood properly, the path forward becomes much more hopeful.

How a couple arrives at the point of treatment often feels like a long road with many checkpoints. One of those checkpoints is learning what happens once a decision to try assisted reproduction is made. The body of knowledge around fertility care has grown, and many people travel to places where clinics combine experience with a supportive environment. Understanding each stage can reduce uncertainty and help a patient feel more in control of the journey.

What Happens After the First Consultation

The first visit usually includes a review of medical history and some basic tests. Blood work looks at hormone levels, while an ultrasound checks the health of the uterus and ovaries. Doctors also discuss lifestyle factors that can affect success. At this stage, the patient learns how many eggs might be retrieved and what medication plan will be used. The conversation often reveals details that were not obvious before, such as the impact of timing on the cycle.

When the treatment plan is set, the patient receives medication to stimulate the ovaries. The goal is to produce several mature eggs rather than the single egg released in a natural cycle. Monitoring appointments happen every few days; a doctor measures hormone levels and reviews ultrasound images to track growth. If the follicles reach the target size, a short‑acting injection triggers the final maturation step. The timing of that injection is important because the egg retrieval must happen before the egg releases on its own.

The Retrieval and Fertilisation Steps

Egg retrieval is a short procedure performed under mild sedation. A needle guided by ultrasound draws the eggs from the ovarian follicles. The sample is then taken to the laboratory where sperm are prepared. In the lab, each egg meets a small number of sperm in a dish. If fertilisation occurs, the embryo begins to divide. A few days later, one or two embryos are chosen for transfer. The choice depends on the quality of the embryos and the patient’s preferences.

The transfer itself feels like a quick visit. A thin catheter is placed to place the embryo near the top of the uterus. The patient rests for a short period before heading home. Some clinics suggest a light activity plan for the next few days, but most people return to their normal routine quickly. While at clinics like Art Fertility, clear information is provided about each step, which can be useful for anyone beginning this process. The hope is that the embryo will implant and develop into a pregnancy. After the transfer, a blood test checks for the hormone that signals pregnancy about ten days later.

Managing Expectations and Follow‑Up

Even with the best preparation, success rates vary. Factors such as age, cause of infertility, and the number of embryos transferred play a role. It is common for patients to feel a mix of optimism and anxiety after the test result.

People often wonder about the cost and travel logistics. Dubai hosts several clinics that follow international standards, and many patients travel there for the combination of expertise and a comfortable setting. When looking for a place to start, a simple search for IVF Dubai can reveal a range of options. A middle‑point reference, such as the clinic listing, helps narrow the field without overwhelming detail.

Advanced Science, Compassionate Care: The Art Fertility Clinics Difference

When it comes to fertility care, Art Fertility Clinics in Abu Dhabi offers more than medical treatments; they also provide emotional support to couples.
